Moving your website off Vistaprint
There is a detail here that surprises most Vistaprint customers: Vistaprint no longer runs its own website builder. Your Vistaprint site is a Wix site, sold under the Vista brand. That changes what your options actually are.
Where you actually stand
Under the Vista and Wix partnership, Vistaprint’s websites product became "Vista x Wix," and existing Vistaprint website customers were migrated onto the Wix platform by Vistaprint’s own support team. So whatever you signed up for, what you have today runs on Wix.
That means the Wix constraints apply to you. Wix’s help documentation states that a Wix site needs to be hosted and operated on Wix’s servers, and that users are not authorised to migrate Wix content outside of Wix. There is no site export. There is no way to take the design with you.
There is also a piece of history worth knowing, because it is the clearest illustration of platform risk we came across. Vistaprint’s earlier website builder, Webs.com, was retired on 31 August 2023 and customers were pointed at Vista x Wix. A platform you did not choose can be discontinued on a timetable you do not control, and it happens.
Your Vistaprint site is a Wix site, with Wix’s constraints
The practical position is the same as any Wix site: your content is yours, and the website is not portable. Wix documents both points directly.
The Webs.com retirement is the part worth sitting with. Customers on that product did not decide to move. The decision was made for them, and the migration path led to a different vendor’s platform. Owning your site outright is the only reliable protection against that kind of thing.
“Existing Vistaprint website customers will be moved to the Wix platform by Vistaprint customer CARE agents. No work will be required by customers.”
“Users are not authorized to migrate Wix content outside of Wix.”
What this costs you day to day
It is a Wix site, so there is no export
Wix documents that sites must be hosted and operated on Wix servers and that migrating Wix content off Wix is not authorised. Everything on our Wix page applies to you.
A platform already disappeared once
Webs.com was retired on 31 August 2023. If you were on it, you have already had one forced migration you did not choose.

Built for print customers, not for search
These sites are generally sold as an add-on to printing and branding. They are rarely built to compete in local search, and it shows.
How the rebuild works
Six steps, and your involvement is deliberately minimal. We handle the technical side, bring you recommendations, and come to you when a decision or an approval is genuinely needed. You review the finished site before it goes live.
- 1
We audit your current website
We review your existing site — pages, content, SEO, functionality and structure. We identify what should be improved, updated or dropped, rather than copying over things that were never working.
- 2
We rebuild the site in Next.js
Your branding and content carry over, but the site is rebuilt from the ground up in Next.js. That removes the database and plugin dependencies behind most performance, security and maintenance problems.
For Vistaprint specifically: Because there is nothing exportable, we work from your live site — crawling every page, capturing content, pulling images at full resolution, mapping URLs for redirects. Same approach as any Wix rebuild, and it works well.
- 3
We improve it while we rebuild it
This is the part people underestimate. We are not handing you a newer version of the same website. We look for real gains in navigation, page layout, calls to action, mobile experience, content and SEO.
- 4
We preserve your SEO
Existing URLs, page titles, metadata and redirects are all accounted for in the transition. The goal is to move platforms without giving up the search visibility you have already built.
- 5
We test everything before it goes live
Desktop and mobile, every form, every piece of functionality, all content reviewed — checked and working before we touch anything in production.
- 6
We launch
Once you approve it, we move the new site into production. From your side the transition should be uneventful, and your visitors should never see an interruption.
What comes with you
- Every page of content from your live site
- Images at full resolution, re-optimised
- Your branding — including anything matching your Vistaprint print materials
- Existing URLs, preserved or 301 redirected
- Working contact forms, tested
- Your domain, transferred into your name
You own what we build. In writing.
Every rebuild is delivered with a Certificate of Ownership and IP Assignment: a signed document assigning you the copyright in the site code and the content we produce for you, and recording the transfer of the repository, the domain and the hosting account into your name. You are not licensing your website from us. If you ever leave, you take the whole thing with you — the code, the content, the domain, the repository and the deployment history.
- Full copyright assignment in the site code and the content we write for you.
- The Git repository transferred to an account you control, with its full history.
- The domain in your name, at a registrar of your choosing.
- Hosting in your own Vercel account if you want it there — we can manage it, but ownership sits with you.
- No proprietary page builder, no template licence, and nothing that stops working if you stop paying us.
Questions people ask about leaving Vistaprint
- Is my Vistaprint website actually a Wix site?
- If it is current, almost certainly yes. Vistaprint’s own partnership FAQs state that existing Vistaprint website customers were moved onto the Wix platform by Vistaprint support agents. The product is branded "Vista x Wix."
- What happened to Webs.com?
- It was retired on 31 August 2023. Vistaprint’s shutdown page directed former Webs users to Vista x Wix. It did not document what happened to customers’ sites, content or domains, and mentioned no export option.
- Can I export my site?
- No. As a Wix site, the Wix rules apply — Wix’s documentation states a Wix site needs to be hosted and operated on Wix’s servers, and that users are not authorised to migrate Wix content off Wix. We rebuild from the live site instead, which loses nothing.
- Can you match my Vistaprint print branding?
- Yes, and it is worth doing. If your cards, signage and vehicle graphics share a look, the website should be consistent with them. Send us anything you have and we will match it.
